I can’t tell you how many fitness apps I’ve downloaded, only to immediately uninstall because they simply weren’t worth the space they took up on my phone. With so many health and wellness apps to choose from, it’s easy to go wrong. Rather than waste your time sifting through the rubble to find a great app, start by checking out the following new options that deliver high-quality features and turn your phone into an electronic personal trainer.
Goal-setting is important, but sometimes you need a little guidance to get you from point A to point B. That’s where Coach.me comes in. The app is designed to help you set goals and reach them by providing you with a combination of daily reminders, community support and advice, pre-made workout plans provided by coaches, as well as one-on-one coaching opportunities. The app and many of its features are free, but one-on-one coaching is offered for the (very reasonably) $14.99 per week. I think the one-on-one coaching feature is important for those who are just starting and have questions. You don’t have to commit to a long time. One or two weeks and you should be well on your way.
Platforms: Android & iOS
Price: Free, with one-on-one coaching costing $14.99/week
MINDBODY Connect is a must-have app if you want to find, book and pay for health and wellness services from the comfort of wherever you happen to be. Based on your location, the app finds participating wellness businesses in your area, including everything from yoga studios and gyms to chiropractic and acupuncture practices. You can then search for appointments that work with your schedule, book and pay for them without ever contacting the business directly.

Owaves is the first-day planner with a 24-hour clock specifically designed to emphasize the five ingredients necessary for a long, healthy life:
Relaxation and spirituality
Love and social activity
The iOS app works with iPhone and iPad, and now has an option for Wellness GPS, which is Owaves’ Apple Watch app. By scheduling your day to emphasize health behaviors alongside your typical calendar items, such as appointments and errands, you’ll never lose sight of all the pieces that make up a well-balanced life.
If you’ve been craving a Pinterest- or Instagram-like application dedicated to nothing but fitness, it’s time to download BURNTHIS. iPhone users can share custom fitness motivation and workout selfies while encouraging and supporting other users. The app also offers in-app challenges to promote regular activity that helps you meet your goals.
